This is the time for reflection, consideration and care.

From all of us in SAR, along the whole of Norway´s west coast, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, happy holidays and a Happy New Year🎄

See our Christmas guide on waste management during the holidays

At this time of year, we usually have a bit of extra waste to dispose of. It's not always easy to know what should be thrown where. So, in the spirit of good waste management, we've created a brief overview that can give you a little peace of mind as the clock ticks toward 2024.

Here's a simple guide to help you sort correctly:

  • Cardboard boxes, Christmas cards, and gray paper with or without color should be sorted as cardboard, paper, and cardboard.

  • Regular glossy wrapping paper and gift ribbons, string, or twine should go in the general waste.

  • Grease from roast and food should be sorted as food waste (easiest when cooled).

  • Glass and plastic ornaments are discarded as general waste.

  • Leftover candle wax can be reused or thrown away in general waste.

  • Used fireworks should be disposed of in general waste, but

  • Undetonated fireworks must be returned to the retailer.

  • Christmas lights, light strings, and light bulbs should be sorted as electronic waste, often referred to as WEEE waste.

  • Batteries should be collected and delivered separately from other waste.

All grocery stores selling batteries should accept them for free and ensure they are sent for recycling. Please return the batteries to your local grocery store.
