From January 1, 2024, there has been a significant increase in the incineration fee for waste intended for incineration.

The Norwegian Parliament has decided to raise the fee for waste incineration to 485 Norwegian kroner per ton from January 1, 2024, compared to the current fee of 131 Norwegian kroner per ton. This fee applies to non-quota obligated incineration facilities. An increase of 354 Norwegian kroner per ton represents a substantial fee hike, resulting in corresponding increases in the prices for waste delivery to incineration facilities from the turn of the year.

Increased source sorting can help reduce costs

Every customer and business have the opportunity to decrease actual costs. This is related to the purpose behind the fee, which is to encourage and stimulate increased source sorting, thereby reducing the proportion of waste that undergoes incineration. To succeed in increased sorting, it is crucial that proper sorting takes place at the first level, at our customers' locations. Our environmental advisors can provide both courses and guidance in this regard.

As mentioned above, SAR AS will adjust prices accordingly for waste intended for incineration for our customers. We thank you in advance for your understanding for the changes mandated by the Parliament.
