Once again, ONS 2024 demonstrated the importance of strong relationships and continuous development, and we are ready to build on this success with customers, suppliers, and other partners. We have engaged in valuable dialogues that emphasize the need to further invest in advisory services for our clients. Our experience in waste management, combined with a strong commitment to sustainability, makes us a natural partner for companies looking to take their environmental responsibility to the next level.

During four exciting exhibition days, many representatives from various departments and disciplines at SAR participated, with strong representation from our environmental advisors. This led to inspiring meetings with key players in sustainability, waste management, oil spill preparedness, safety, HSE, and circular economy.

Close cooperation delivers results in sustainability

Through numerous personal meetings at ONS, new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing were identified, maintaining and enhancing our ability to deliver top-quality advisory services. By continuously expanding our expertise and emphasizing close cooperation with our customers and partners, we are laying a solid foundation for a more sustainable future.

Collaboration with NOFO – for the sake of the ocean

At ONS, SAR’s HSEQ & Sustainability Director, Karen Aanestad, and Ståle Jensen, Senior Environmental Advisor from NOFO, met. SAR has collaborated with NOFO for several years on waste management and advisory services related to oil spill preparedness. Together, we have participated in several exercises that have been both educational and have further strengthened our collaboration. We truly look forward to building on this partnership. At SAR, we see great value in practicing how we can provide advisory services, logistical solutions, and treatment options for large volumes of waste in a hypothetical incident, benefiting our customers. Here, operating companies work together with authorities and several other actors under NOFO's leadership and coordination. SAR is proud to be part of this important collaboration.

Karen Aanestad (HSEQ & Sustainability Director, SAR) and Ståle Jensen (Senior Environmental Advisor, NOFO) both agree that we must work "for the sake of the ocean."

SAR and Rosenberg – environmental advisory and project collaboration

Our Environmental Department Manager, Håvard Solheim Nateland, had a valuable conversation and good dialogue with HR Manager Monica Sande from Rosenberg. Among other things, they discussed how SAR can contribute to making projects even better, more sustainable, increase reuse, and, not least, ensure safer handling.

SAR played a key role in the "Jotun project"

We have had the privilege of being an integral part of the "Jotun project" for several years, where our skilled environmental advisors, led by Hanne Hillestad Wold, have been key to close follow-up and good results. The Jotun ship has been in operation since 1999 and has been at the Rosenberg yard in Stavanger since the summer of 2020. It has been essential to have a waste strategy in place beforehand, robust waste plans, good structure in waste management during the process, and ensure high-quality waste reporting from this massive project. The "Jotun project" highlights our strength in advisory services and our ability to deliver value to our customers through long-term partnerships. SAR's early involvement in this project has had positive effects in establishing good and safe waste management at all stages (WCM/Waste Chain Management).

Focus on expertise, safety, and HSE with SG Safety

In an inspiring conversation with employees from SG Safety, including KAM Gerd Julie Fjell and occupational hygienist Wenche Beathe Svingen, safety and HSE were high on the agenda.

“We are grateful to have suppliers like SG Safety, who help us improve our services and maintain high standards in safety and HSE.” – Håvard S. Nateland, Environmental Manager | SAR.

SG Safety is also a supplier open to discussing shared improvements both in our interface and for the larger industry. The next step is a joint meeting with all our advisors to explore further collaboration opportunities. We look forward to continuing!

Circular Norway for a circular economy

We were also delighted to meet Rebekka Løken Kvalsund from Circular Norway, who leads the Learning Management System and Knowledge Hub. Rebekka shared her passion for the circular economy and how it can contribute to a more sustainable society with green jobs. We also had the opportunity to meet Øyvind Sandve from Stena Recycling at the Circular Norway stand. It was truly valuable to engage in good conversations about important topics.

"We look forward to continuing the dialogue to achieve our shared sustainability goals and perhaps develop innovative solutions within the circular economy. 'Let’s get practical' – is a motto we wholeheartedly support!" - Karen Aanestad, Director HSEQ & Sustainability | SAR.

SAR – "At the heart of the event"

These meetings, along with many others, have confirmed the importance of and the engagement around collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning. We are proud to be a competence-driven company that is always seeking new knowledge through innovation and new forms of collaboration.

"By expanding our specialized advisory services, we can further assist our customers with everything from assessing current practices and developing action plans, to training and follow-up to ensure that companies meet their environmental goals. We carry the ONS 2024 theme 'IMAGINE' forward as a mantra in our work to create value from waste. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making ONS 2024 a success." – Tor Olav Schibevaag, CEO | SAR.
